Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
30 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Declan Duddy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Richard Imer! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Imer throws a body punch but Duddy moves out of range. Duddy rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Imer counters with a single leg into guard. Duddy didn't expect that. Duddy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Imer wants to control from the top but Duddy keeps moving. Imer controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Imer trying to control the position from guard on top but Duddy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Imer is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Duddy is looking to stand up but Imer isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Imer trying to control but Duddy is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Duddy tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Duddy throws a poor cross that misses
and Imer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Duddy won't be happy with that. Duddy is looking for a sweep. Imer tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Duddy is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Imer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Duddy keeps working. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Imer remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duddy stops Imer from passing to mount. Imer trying to control the action but Duddy is working from the bottom. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Duddy throws a left and a right that both miss
and Imer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Imer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Imer trying to control but Duddy is working from the bottom. Duddy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Imer passes Duddy's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Duddy is trying to get back to full guard. Duddy wants to get back to his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Imer tries to pass to full mount but Duddy defends it. Duddy wants to control but Imer passes into side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Richard Imer dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Imer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Duddy attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Duddy misses with an uppercut
and Imer counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Duddy! Imer has knee on belly momentarily but Duddy bucks him off and regains half guard. Duddy tries to roll over but Imer keeps him under control. Richard Imer has got the better of the ground game so far. Imer is pressing down on Duddy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Duddy is holding on for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Imer seems to be working for a kimura but Duddy defends the submission attempt.

Imer is taking a breather. Duddy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Imer trying to control the action but Duddy is working from the bottom. Imer prevents Duddy from improving his position. Imer wants to pass to mount but Duddy is defending the position. Duddy works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Imer wants to control from the top but Duddy keeps moving. Imer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Duddy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Imer, into his guard.
Imer has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Duddy is looking to stand up but Imer won't let him. Duddy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Imer, up you get! Duddy misses with a looping left. Imer misses with a wild body shot. Declan Duddy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duddy takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Imer shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Duddy misses with a series of wild punches.
Duddy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Duddy looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Duddy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Imer was well out of range. Poor timing from Duddy. Imer takes a shot right to the bread basket. Duddy throws a body shot but no joy. Duddy with a nice cross. Duddy wants to land a leg kick but Imer is out of range. Jab, jab by Imer - just one landing. Imer lands a body shot.
Imer tries to clinch up. Declan Duddy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Duddy lands a head shot.
It looks like Richard Imer has been cut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Imer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Duddy. Duddy throws a right and a left that both miss. Duddy looks to land a right hand but Imer moved out of range. Duddy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Imer is defended easily by Duddy. Duddy misses with a leg kick and Imer counters with a shoot takedown. Duddy fights it but they end up in guard. Imer trying to control but Duddy is working from the bottom. Duddy scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Imer throws a sloppy head kick and Duddy moves out of range easily. Imer's corner calls for a 1-2. Imer obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Imer takes a swing at Duddy's ribcage but misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Richard Imer will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Richard Imer's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
That kick from Imer tenderised Duddy's leg. Duddy is trying to keep his angry face on. Duddy misses with a combination
and Imer counters with a shoot takedown. Duddy fights it but they end up in guard. Duddy keeping moving, preventing Imer from controlling successfully. Imer prevents Duddy from getting back to his feet. Duddy looking to control.
Imer is pushing down on Duddy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Duddy is fighting to maintain full guard but Imer has managed to sneak the leg through. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Imer trying to control from Duddy's half guard. Duddy has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Imer content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Imer is looking to advance position but Duddy has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Duddy wants to stand but Imer is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Imer manages to regain half guard. Good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Imer is pressing down on Duddy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Imer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Duddy manages to get himself to full guard.
Imer looking to sit in guard and control but Duddy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Richard Imer is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Imer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Duddy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Duddy wants to stand but Imer is controlling his posture from full guard. Duddy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Imer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Duddy has managed to get both his arms back between Imer's legs - danger averted. Duddy wants to stand and escape but instead Imer has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Duddy keeping full guard, as Imer tries to pass. Duddy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Imer postures up.
Imer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Duddy trying to keep a closed guard but Imer is proving a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Imer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Imer wants to control from the top but Duddy keeps moving. Declan Duddy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Imer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Duddy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Imer controls the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Duddy throws an overhand right that lands on Imer's shoulder, as Imer tries to avoid the shot.
And that's the end of the fight! Richard Imer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Imer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
