Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Woodrow Higgins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Brdjan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peter Brdjan has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Woodrow Higgins's chin.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Brdjan! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Higgins tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Peter Brdjan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brdjan looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Brdjan misses with a double jab
and Higgins counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Higgins misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Higgins has Brdjan pressed against the cage.
Higgins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Brdjan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Higgins napping and manages to drive through into side control! It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Brdjan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Higgins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Brdjan is trying to get an arm triangle but Higgins is defending well. Higgins prevents Brdjan from moving into mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brdjan tries to stand but Higgins is controlling his head. Brdjan throwing shots but missing, from side control. Brdjan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Brdjan throws an elbow but Higgins slips to the side and avoids it well. Higgins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The ground and pound from Brdjan seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Higgins is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Brdjan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Brdjan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Higgins is looking for a sweep. Brdjan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Brdjan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Higgins's head. Brdjan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Higgins throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Brdjan prevents Higgins from improving his position. Higgins is not content to let Brdjan control the position. Brdjan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brdjan sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Higgins defending well though. Brdjan looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Higgins really is a fat lump. Higgins avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Brdjan. Brdjan is taking a breather. Higgins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Higgins is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Brdjan pulls his head out easily. Brdjan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Higgins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brdjan on the ground. Brdjan wants to pass to mount but Higgins is defending the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brdjan is trying to control the action in half guard but Higgins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Higgins tries to roll over but Brdjan keeps him under control. Brdjan trying to control from half guard but Higgins is working away. Higgins actively working from the bottom here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Brdjan stalling away here and it's allowed Higgins to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peter Brdjan dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Brdjan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Higgins is trying to defend but Brdjan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Brdjan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Peter Brdjan has got the better of the ground game so far. Higgins is not content to let Brdjan control the position. Higgins tries to get to full guard but Brdjan has control of the leg. Higgins throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brdjan is trying to control the action in half guard but Higgins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Higgins is trying to get back to full guard. Higgins is in trouble now - Brdjan has advanced to mount! Brdjan trying to control but he's not successful this time. Brdjan thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brdjan wants to control the pace but Higgins is squirming around nicely. Brdjan thowing shots but they're missing. Brdjan working the ground and pound effectively.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Higgins is in a horrible position here. Brdjan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Brdjan lands a nice shot to the head. Brdjan swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Higgins is now in Brdjan's guard. A big mistake from Brdjan there, giving up the dominant position! Brdjan looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Higgins passes into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Brdjan sneaks back into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peter Brdjan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Higgins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Brdjan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Brdjan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Higgins throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Brdjan passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Higgins! Poor strikes thrown by Brdjan there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

That's one minute gone in the round. Brdjan throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Brdjan with shots to the head and body - Higgins looks very uncomfortable down there. Brdjan trying to control but Higgins is having none of it. Brdjan goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Higgins turns into him and now he's in Brdjan's guard.
Brdjan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Higgins is aware though and is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Higgins loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Higgins lands a couple of digs. Brdjan isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Higgins stacks Brdjan on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Higgins! Brdjan bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Brdjan tries to clinch there but Higgins circles away.

Higgins gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brdjan postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Brdjan advances position into side control! Higgins is looking to reverse the position. Brdjan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Higgins has escaped the position, nice work there. Brdjan wants to control but Higgins is keeping him busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brdjan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Brdjan decides to stand back up. Brdjan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brdjan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Woodrow Higgins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Peter Brdjan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Brdjan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter Brdjan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Brdjan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
