0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raijin Joaquin! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joaquin throws a sloppy head kick and Guzman moves out of range easily. A right-left combo lands from Guzman. Guzman lands a two punch combo.
A left and a right from Guzman both land. Nice combination. Joaquin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Joaquin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Joaquin trying to control the action but Guzman is working from the bottom. Guzman is pushing Joaquin's head away, looking to escape. Joaquin manages to hold on to the position though. Guzman defending against the ground and pound. Joaquin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The strikes coming from Joaquin are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Joaquin stands up and beckons Guzman to his feet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Guzman misses with a two punch combination.

Joaquin throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Joaquin throws an elbow but Guzman slips to the side and avoids it well. Guzman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Joaquin on the ground. Guzman managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Joaquin.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Guzman is not content to let Joaquin control the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Joaquin decides to take the fight back to the feet. Joaquin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Guzman was covering up waiting for the punch and Joaquin finishes the takedown easily into guard. Joaquin stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Joaquin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Joaquin seems to be looking for submissions.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Joaquin not landing any meaningful shots this time. Joaquin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Joaquin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Joaquin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Guzman's head. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Guzman wants to get back to his feet. Joaquin is trying to work for a kimura but Guzman is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Joaquin throwing shots but Guzman is blocking nicely. Joaquin frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Joaquin throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Poor strikes thrown by Joaquin there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Joaquin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Guzman is surviving well by controlling Joaquin's body position as best he can. Raijin Joaquin has got the better of the ground game so far. Joaquin thowing shots but they're missing. Joaquin looking to isolate an arm here. Guzman doesn't see it coming and as Joaquin extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Joaquin!
