Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Mclean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John McVeigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John McVeigh looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ricardo Mclean! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John McVeigh! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ron Honeybunn and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McVeigh shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mclean's guard. Mclean is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McVeigh is controlling him. Mclean could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. McVeigh postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. McVeigh lands a couple of decent looking shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McVeigh throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mclean works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mclean escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McVeigh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. McVeigh landing some decent shots from guard. Mclean knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McVeigh on the ground. Mclean is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McVeigh is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mclean pushes McVeigh off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. McVeigh has Mclean up against the cage in a clinch.
McVeigh wants to break free but Mclean has control.
Mclean will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning McVeigh up against the cage. Mclean throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but McVeigh blocks it with crossed arms.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mclean holding his opponent close, against the cage.
McVeigh keeps control of Mclean as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Mclean fails to pull guard.
McVeigh lands a good knee to the midsection. Mclean won't want to take too many of those. McVeigh is trying to drag Mclean to the mat but Mclean just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Knees in the clinch landing for McVeigh.
Mclean is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McVeigh breaks from the clinch.
McVeigh closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mclean's guard. McVeigh postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. McVeigh postures up and lands a big shot to Mclean's brow. McVeigh wants to control from the top but Mclean keeps moving. McVeigh loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mclean can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McVeigh controls the pace. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. McVeigh advances position into side control! McVeigh in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mclean taking a bit of punishment here - McVeigh scoring with strikes. McVeigh grinds an elbow into Mclean's temple. McVeigh working the ground and pound from side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McVeigh cracks Mclean with a big right hand but Mclean just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
McVeigh works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A combination from McVeigh does no damage. Sloppy strikes from McVeigh. Those never looked like landing. McVeigh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mclean as he jumps to the side. Mclean loads up on a big right hand but McVeigh slips the punch. Mclean throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McVeigh fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mclean to the ground. McVeigh is now in Mclean's guard. McVeigh throws an elbow that misses. Mclean uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McVeigh's guard. Nice move by Mclean! Mclean throws a strike but McVeigh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. McVeigh trying to control but Mclean is working from the bottom. McVeigh is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mclean is trying to control the position from the bottom.
McVeigh looking to pass the guard. McVeigh stops Mclean from standing up. McVeigh throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McVeigh throws a big right hand that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McVeigh working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Mclean keeping moving, preventing McVeigh from controlling successfully. McVeigh postures up in Mclean's guard and throws a big left but Mclean blocks it. McVeigh wants to pass the guard but Mclean is keeping the position. McVeigh postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. McVeigh sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mclean's guard. McVeigh sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mclean defending well though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mclean is trying to stand back up but McVeigh is controlling him
McVeigh working the head and body with strikes. McVeigh seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. McVeigh seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mclean does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. McVeigh scoring with strikes to the body and head. McVeigh lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. McVeigh working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. McVeigh working the head and body with strikes. McVeigh has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McVeigh is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McVeigh looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mclean might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McVeigh wants to take a breather but Mclean is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mclean tries to get to full guard but McVeigh has control of the leg. Mclean tries to kick McVeigh off but McVeigh keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John McVeigh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Mclean tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McVeigh was well out of range. Poor timing from Mclean. Some wild striking there from McVeigh.
McVeigh looks to land a combination but Mclean avoids it well. Mclean gets tackled into the cage by McVeigh. McVeigh maintains the clinch. Mclean tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McVeigh just stands there and leans against the cage. McVeigh tries to pull guard but Mclean forces him back to his feet, against the cage. McVeigh takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mclean is trying to pull guard but McVeigh has him pressed against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. McVeigh tries to circle away but Mclean has him pinned against the cage. Mclean gets control of McVeigh's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mclean will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Mclean wants to stand but McVeigh is controlling the position. McVeigh lands a couple of digs. McVeigh chips away with some ground and pound. McVeigh looking to sit in guard and control but Mclean gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Mclean postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

McVeigh trying to control the position from guard on top but Mclean is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McVeigh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mclean swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McVeigh accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. McVeigh sitting in guard here, content to control. McVeigh throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mclean works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mclean wants to stand and escape but McVeigh is having none of it. McVeigh trying to control but Mclean is working from the bottom. McVeigh landing with the ground and pound.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John McVeigh hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. McVeigh scores with a three punch combo!
It looks like Ricardo Mclean has been cut. A nice combination there by McVeigh.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McVeigh closes the distance and pushes Mclean back into the cage. McVeigh blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Ricardo Mclean has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! John McVeigh is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Mclean misses with a shot to the kidneys.
And that's the end of the fight! John McVeigh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well McVeigh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
