Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Santi Santoro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Shaults (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Santi Santoro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Shaults! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santoro fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Santoro swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shaults moves into the clinch. Santoro is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shaults pulls him back up using the underhooks. Santoro has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Shaults avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Santoro goes for a takedown attempt but Shaults pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santi Santoro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shaults fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Santoro sprawls well initially but Shaults persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Still in half guard, Shaults seems content to control. Shaults wants to take a breather but Santoro is having none of it. Santoro is doing well to control the position and prevent Shaults from advancing to side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santoro is not content to let Shaults control the position. Santoro is positioning himself well to prevent Shaults advancing to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shaults wants to stand up but Santoro is controlling the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Santoro is refusing to be controlled, as Shaults sits in half guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Santoro has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Shaults closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Santoro's guard. Shaults wants to control from the top but Santoro keeps moving. Shaults stopping the sweep attempt from Santoro. Shaults tries to free his leg and advance position but Santoro is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shaults tries to stand but Santoro is controlling from the bottom. Santoro is pulling down on Shaults's head. It's preventing any offense from Shaults, at least for the moment. Santoro keeping full guard, as Shaults tries to pass.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Santoro looks to land a left hand but Shaults moved out of range nicely. Shaults throws a right and a left that both miss. Santoro bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Santoro misses with the ground and pound. Shaults trying to remain calm as Santoro controls from the top position. Santoro working the head with strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santoro lands some shots froms side control. Santoro lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Shaults down.

Shaults is rocked! Santoro fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Santoro throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Santoro is working Shaults over with some ground and pound from side control. Shaults is still in real trouble! Can Santoro finish him? Shaults is not content to let Santoro control the position. Shaults seems to have recovered his senses. Santoro works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Santoro in side control lands a decent elbow. Shaults is not content to let Santoro control the position. Santoro is putting a hurting on Shaults here, landing some big shots from side control. The strikes coming from Santoro are missing the target in this wave of attacks. This has been an exciting period of action! Santoro works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Santoro trying to control the position but Shaults is working away. Shaults defending against the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Santi Santoro dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
A looping hook to the body misses from Santoro. Shaults does a little dance to reset his feet. Santi Santoro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Santoro walks into a straight right hand from Shaults. Santoro decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santoro throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Santoro prevents Shaults from standing back up.
Shaults is trying to get back to full guard. Shaults is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Santoro scores with a couple of nice shots. Santoro lands with a punch from half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santoro scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Shaults is trying to stand up here but Santoro is controlling him well. Santoro lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santoro working over Shaults with some ground and pound. Shaults looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Santoro connects with a nice short shot to Shaults's temple. Santoro is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Shaults is hurt! He's hurt bad - Santoro fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Shaults from any more punishment! Congratulations to Santoro! Great finish!
