The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whyte moves in looking to clinch but Huerta pushes him off.
Whyte misses with a double jab.
Whyte throws a big shot that misses.
Whyte throws a series of punches but Huerta avoids them all with ease.
Whyte throws a sloppy head kick and Huerta moves out of range easily.
Huerta dives in for a single leg takedown but Whyte sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Whyte breaks the clinch.
Huerta shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Whyte as he avoids it easily.
Huerta shoots for a double leg takedown but Whyte sprawls well. He's pushed Huerta's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Huerta. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

I was talking to Huerta's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
