PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Callum Pagnozzi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dylan McKay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McKay has chosen Land Down Under as his entrance music. Callum Pagnozzi had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Callum Pagnozzi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dylan McKay!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pagnozzi tries to move into range but McKay moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
A clash of legs there as McKay blocks the low kick.
Dylan McKay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McKay feints and then cracks Pagnozzi's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Pagnozzi down.
McKay takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
An inside leg kick lands from McKay.
Pagnozzi does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Pagnozzi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pagnozzi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Pagnozzi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
McKay swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pagnozzi misses with a wild body shot.
Pagnozzi misses with a head kick.
Pagnozzi throws a low kick but it's checked well by McKay.
Pagnozzi throws a solid leg kick but McKay takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Pagnozzi.
McKay lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Pagnozzi goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Pagnozzi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McKay's waist but McKay gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pagnozzi off to one side.
Pagnozzi throws a shot from downtown. McKay moves away and avoids it.

McKay avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McKay digs a good hook to Pagnozzi's body.

Pagnozzi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McKay.
Pagnozzi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
McKay ducks right into an uppercut from Pagnozzi.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pagnozzi dives in for a single leg takedown but McKay sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Pagnozzi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McKay fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pagnozzi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Pagnozzi has been working on his balance at Team Listerman, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by McKay.

McKay fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pagnozzi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
McKay throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pagnozzi.
Pagnozzi throws a lazy right hand but McKay sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
McKay lands a nice hook to Pagnozzi's body. Pagnozzi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

McKay misses with a low kick.

McKay lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Horrible takedown attempt by Pagnozzi or perhaps it was just good defense by McKay, which made it look bad.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McKay tries to clinch but Pagnozzi is having none of it.
McKay connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
McKay takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McKay lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Pagnozzi has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Pagnozzi and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Dylan McKay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pagnozzi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McKay is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McKay wants to sweep here but Pagnozzi controlling him for the moment.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for McKay. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
