The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvarez lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Fola backs up against the cage.
Fola is looking to land body kicks. Alvarez throws a leg kick but Fola sees it coming and moves out of range. A combination from Fola does no damage. Alvarez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Fola throws a poor cross that misses
and Alvarez counters with a nice body shot. Alvarez on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
It looks like Ricky Alvarez has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fola lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alvarez circles away quickly and effectively. Jab by Alvarez. Alvarez takes a kick to the side of the head. Alvarez throws a series of punches but Fola avoids them all with ease. Fola looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Alvarez checks a leg kick. Fola is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Alvarez's half guard. Alvarez gets full guard. Alvarez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fola doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Alvarez is tightening it up a little... Fola has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Fola reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Fola taps out! Nice BJJ there by Alvarez!
