PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Esteban Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott comes into the arena with Scotty Doesn't Know blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Hardy's choice of entrance music: Run this town. Chad Hardy is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Esteban Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chad Hardy!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Scott.
Hardy throws a shot to the body.
Scott tries a head kick but it misses.
A jab from Scott finds it's way through Hardy's defenses.
Esteban Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hardy slips a jab and a cross from Scott.
Scott throws a head kick but Hardy moves out of range.
Hardy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Scott moves away.

and Hardy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Scott moves into range and connects with a jab.
Hardy's coach down at Muayfit MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hardy's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Scott lands a jab-cross combination.
Scott lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hardy's sensitive parts.
Scott looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Scott moves in looking to clinch but Hardy pushes him off.
Scott fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Hardy stuffs the takedown attempt from Scott. Scott gets slowly back to his feet.

Scott closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hardy is staying active underneath Scott, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Well, if Scott is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hardy has hold of Scott's hands but Scott slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Hardy tries to get to full guard but Scott has control of the leg.

Scott is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hardy has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hardy pushes Scott off looking to stand but Scott dives back in and keeps control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Hardy tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scott is stalling here but it's allowed Hardy to get half guard.
Scott wants to take a breather but Hardy is having none of it.
Scott missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Scott is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Scott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hardy keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Scott shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hardy but Hardy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Scott misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Scott drops his hands momentarily and Hardy takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

and Scott counters with a nice leg kick.

Scott closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hardy did well to prevent Scott getting side control.

Scott is looking for a kimura but Hardy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Scott to get the leverage.
Hardy is staying active underneath Scott, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Scott lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Hardy hang on?

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Scott cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Scott tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Scott wants to control the pace but Hardy is squirming around nicely.
Scott scores with a couple of good head shots there.


Hardy is rocked!
Scott has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hardy's face.
Hardy is still in real trouble! Can Scott finish him?
Scott can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hardy is looking to escape.
Scott pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Scott is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Hardy goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Scott!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Esteban Scott!
An out of breath Esteban Scott thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
Chad Hardy spoke after the fight, saying 'As always I can do everything through Christ my lord and savior who strengthens me. Without him I wouldn't be here tonight. Don't worry I'll be back.'.
