Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gorkon Pinocet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Mallon! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pinocet misses with a wild combination.
Pinocet throws a right hand that misses
and Mallon counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Mallon drops his hands momentarily and Pinocet takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Pinocet throws an overhand right that lands on Mallon's shoulder, as Mallon tries to avoid the shot. Pinocet misses with a hook. Mallon ducked under it nicely. A combination from Pinocet does no damage. Mallon fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Mallon fails to land with a series of punches.
Mallon misses with a jab, cross combination.
Some bone on bone action there as Mallon checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Pinocet definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. A looping hook to the body misses from Pinocet. Mallon does a little dance to reset his feet. Pinocet misses with an uppercut. Pinocet showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mallon.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Some wild striking there from Mallon.
Pinocet loads up on a big right hand but Mallon slips the punch. Mallon ducks under a wild hook from Pinocet. Mallon needs to keep his hands up - Pinocet had a free shot at his head there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mallon throws a combination. Pinocet tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Pinocet tries to keep at a distance but Mallon has taken the fight into the clinch. Mallon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Pinocet throws a lazy right hand but Mallon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pinocet misses with an uppercut
and Mallon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Pinocet takes a body punch but keeps moving. Pinocet throws a lazy right hand but Mallon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pinocet throws a lazy right hand but Mallon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Mallon clinches with his opponent.
Mallon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mallon connects with a combination that backs up Pinocet into the cage. Mallon lands a flurry of punches that gets past Pinocet's guard. Pinocet is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Mallon bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Mallon! Gorkon Pinocet was interviewed post fight and said 'My opponent has clearly cheated! I can not lose! My manager Smitty will be contacting our attorney, and you will be told to stop lying!'.
