The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almaev staying out of range there.
Anthony Barreras seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Almaev steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Barreras.
Barreras throws a jab when Almaev was well out of range.
Barreras dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Barreras lands a lovely overhand right.
Almaev darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Almaev seems content to control.
Almaev moves nicely into side control.
Almaev is staying tight to Barreras's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Almaev is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Barreras looks calm but he's in trouble here. Almaev gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Barreras is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Almaev lets go of the hold and Barreras can pop his arm back in it's socket.

A relieved looking Timir Almaev thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
