Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carlos Condit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Leo Katona!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katona blocks the body kick.
Katona circles away from the clinch attempt.
Some wild striking there from Katona.
Katona pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Katona takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Condit feints and then cracks Katona's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Katona down.
Katona throws a head kick that misses.

Condit pushes Katona up against the cage in a clinch.
Katona tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Condit smiles and moves away.
Katona misses with a combination

and Condit counters with a takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Katona is not content to let Condit control the position.
Katona stops Condit from passing to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Condit goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Katona rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Condit's guard! Nice work there by Katona!
Katona controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Condit wants to stand up but Katona is controlling him.
Katona postures up and lands a big shot to Condit's brow.
Condit keeping moving, preventing Katona from controlling successfully.
Condit not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Condit is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Condit really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Condit knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Katona on the ground.

Katona shoots in for a takedown but Condit shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Katona enables Condit to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Katona manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Katona working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Condit doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Condit manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Katona lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Katona lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Condit is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Katona is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Condit has managed to free his arm - good work.

Condit wants to get back to full guard but Katona has passed into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Leo Katona showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Katona throws a nice looking combination but Condit bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Condit fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Katona tries to clinch up but Condit circles away and keeps his distance.

Katona fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Condit manages to avoid it.

Condit looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Katona!

Condit is controlling the pace.

Condit is stalling here. Katona is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Condit seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Katona has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Condit's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Katona connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Katona takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
