PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Berus Lihi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Dansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Berus Lihi has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Berus Lihi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Dansen!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lihi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A low kick from Lihi is predictable there

so Dansen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lihi wants to stand but Dansen is controlling the position.
Dansen sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Dansen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lihi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Dansen advances position into side control!
Dansen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Dansen working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Lihi is trying to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lihi wants to get back to his feet but Dansen drags him back down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lihi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Dansen off and has taken his back!

Lihi decides to stand up, even though he's got his opponent's back.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Lihi, right into the meat.
A telegraphed right hand from Dansen misses the target.
Lihi sizes up Dansen with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Dansen shoots in and drives through. Lihi sprawls well.
No joy there for Lihi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Dansen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Dansen tries for a takedown. No joy.
Dansen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lihi pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Berus Lihi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Dansen.
Dansen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lihi walks away with a smile on his face. Dansen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Dansen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lihi can pounce on him.
Dansen has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Lihi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Dansen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Dansen takes one on the chin but seems OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lihi stalks Dansen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Dansen's face. Dansen staggers backwards, shaken.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dansen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A bone on bone clash there as Dansen blocks the leg kick.
Lihi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lihi throws a series of punches but Dansen moves out of range.

Dansen shoots for a takedown but Lihi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Berus Lihi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dansen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dansen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lihi wants to get back to his feet but Dansen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Lihi is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Nonprofit Vegas Elite $50 ($1000 value) that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Dansen controlling from the top position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lihi wants to sweep but no luck.

Dansen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Dansen works over Lihi with some ground and pound from guard.
Dansen wants to control from the top but Lihi keeps moving.

Dansen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dansen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dansen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Lihi manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Dansen turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Dansen manages to end up in side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lihi tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lihi is working hard here to advance position.
Lihi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lihi tries to get out of the position.

Dansen is working to tighten his grip on Lihi's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Lihi has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Dansen is really squeezing tight and eventually Lihi passes out! Dansen breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jon Dansen!
