The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Black.
Black throws a front kick aimed at Yates's knee but Yates avoids it well.
Yates dodges the punch combination from Black.

Tyrone Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Yates fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Black sprawls well initially but Yates persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Yates jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Black walks away with a smile on his face. Yates gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Yates has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Black avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Yates is trying to drag Black to the mat but Black just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Yates tries to pull guard but Black holds him up against the cage and eventually Yates drops back down to his feet.

That kick from Black tenderised Yates's leg. Yates is trying to keep his angry face on.
Black dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Yates. That did some damage!

Black throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Yates pulls guard successfully.
Black wants to get up but he can't break Yates's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Yates holds on and takes a little breather.

Yates working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Black doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Black manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Yates is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Black is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Yates changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Black looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Yates creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Yates creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Black sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
