The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Whitaker shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Colon is trying to defend but Whitaker finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Colon is looking for a sweep. Whitaker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Colon has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Whitaker is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Colon.

Colon is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Whitaker defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Colon has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Whitaker! Can he survive? No! He's out! Colon gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted.
