Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wally Portman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Turgeon! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Portman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Portman wants it to stay on the feet. Turgeon pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Portman back to the cage. Turgeon follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Portman thows a body kick. Turgeon tries to catch it but that hurt him. Portman wants to clinch up but Turgeon keeps it at a distance. Turgeon gets a clinch. Portman managing to block the knees to the body from Turgeon.
Turgeon tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Portman avoids it. Turgeon has Portman pushed against the cage. Turgeon goes for a takedown attempt but Portman pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
This has been an exciting period of action! Portman tries to clinch up. Portman dodges the punch combination from Turgeon.
Portman pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
That's one minute gone in the round. Turgeon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Turgeon wants it to stay on the feet. Turgeon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Portman manages to escape and get back to his feet! Turgeon shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Wally Portman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Turgeon. A big left from Portman misses. Turgeon shoots in but no luck this time. Portman dodges the punch combination from Turgeon.
Turgeon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Portman tries to avoid it but Turgeon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Portman to the ground. Portman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Turgeon looks winded! Turgeon fails to land the takedown. Turgeon blocks a head kick by Portman.
Turgeon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Turgeon circles away from the clinch attempt.
Portman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Portman is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Turgeon is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
