Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pat Sumrall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pat Sumrall!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mir closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sumrall's guard.
Mir slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mir wants to control from the top but Sumrall keeps moving.

Sumrall looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mir controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mir stopping the sweep attempt from Sumrall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sumrall is not content to let Mir control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mir escapes and gets back to his feet.
Mir fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sumrall lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

so Mir counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mir is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sumrall is surviving well by controlling Mir's body position as best he can.
Sumrall is desperately trying to improve his position but Mir has a good base and remains in mount.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mir connects with a nice short shot to Sumrall's temple.

Mir jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Sumrall manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Mir is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sumrall knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
