15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugues De Payens! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Payens lands a body shot.
Nice body kick there by De Payens. Hugues De Payens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A solid body kick from De Payens. Stirling uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by De Payens.
Stirling walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. De Payens scores with a body shot.
De Payens closes the distance and clinches. De Payens tries to throw a body punch but Stirling avoids it by throwing De Payens back against the cage. A shot in the inside from De Payens. Stirling lands with a short punch from the clinch.

De Payens tries to throw a body punch but Stirling avoids it by throwing De Payens back against the cage. De Payens wants to stall.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as De Payens takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. De Payens lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Stirling. De Payens pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that De Payens has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Stirling missing with a left hand there. De Payens was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. De Payens connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Stirling's hands.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Payens keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Stirling. De Payens does a little dance to reset his feet. Stirling blocks a head kick by De Payens.
De Payens is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Stirling is rocked! De Payens pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Oh Stirling is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! De Payens shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stirling as he jumps to the side. De Payens feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Stirling sprawling to the canvas! Stirling rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can De Payens finish him?!
De Payens misses with a low kick. De Payens fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. De Payens wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. De Payens connects with a body shot. De Payens has managed to clinch.
Stirling seems to have got his legs back now. De Payens is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Stirling is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Payens blocks an uppercut.
De Payens scores with a shot to the side of Stirling's head. Stirling misses with a punch on the inside.
A head punch blocked on the inside by De Payens. De Payens is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Stirling misses with a body punch.
Stirling scores with a shoulder strike. De Payens avoids a wild elbow strike from Stirling. Stirling struggles to land a body shot inside as De Payens controls his hands.

Stirling on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Stirling scores with a hook. Stirling throws an uppercut from half a mile away. De Payens sees it coming and avoids it easily. Stirling keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Stirling walks forward, straight into a front kick from De Payens. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! De Payens lands a big uppercut and Stirling crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Stirling looks OK. De Payens waves Stirling back to his feet! De Payens lands an uppercut, right on the button! Stirling tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Hugues De Payens!
