Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antwan Cohen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dereck Catone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Catone has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Antwan Cohen had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dereck Catone! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Catone moves to clinch but Cohen breaks away and Cohen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Catone with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cohen to score with a decent uppercut. Catone is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Cohen tries to close the distance and clinch but Catone swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cohen avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Cohen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Catone tries to break free but Cohen pushes him back against the cage. Cohen is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Catone is defending well for now. Cohen manages to break the clinch.
Cohen shoots and misses and Catone counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Catone looks winded! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Cohen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cohen is pulling down on Catone's head. It's preventing any offense from Catone, at least for the moment.

Cohen will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

We're going to have a standup here because Antwan Cohen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Cohen darts in and clinches Catone up against the cage. Cohen tightens his grip and picks Catone up, before dumping him to the ground. Catone manages to land in guard. Catone has a closed guard, preventing Cohen from standing up. Catone throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cohen wants to stand and escape but instead Catone has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Cohen wants to stand up but Catone is controlling him. Cohen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Cohen is adopting a defensive guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cohen decides to pull guard. Catone wants to pass the guard but Cohen is keeping the position. Cohen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Cohen has momentary wrist control but Catone slips an elbow through the middle. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cohen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Catone can do anything to dispel that myth. Cohen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Catone is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Cohen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Catone, who protects the arm well. Catone manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Catone is breathing heavily. Catone avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cohen. Cohen lands with a punch from half guard. Cohen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Catone tries to roll over but Cohen keeps him under control. Cohen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Cohen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Catone has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cohen is working away from the top position though.
