The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kota darts in looking for a takedown but Canavan gets double underhooks and turns Kota into the cage.
Kota manages to pull guard.
Kota trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Kota is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
We've been hearing good reports from Canavan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Kota is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kota is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Canavan has managed to free his arm - good work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
