PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Leshley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Kline (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leshley comes to the cage accompanied by I am the Dominator. Kline is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enter Sandman. Bobby Leshley has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bobby Leshley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andy Kline!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kline clinches.
Kline avoiding damage as Leshley throws knees to the body.
Kline wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Leshley has him pressed against the cage.
Leshley throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Leshley takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Kline blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Leshley tries to land a knee to the head but Kline blocks with his arms.
Leshley dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Leshley digs a right hand underneath Kline's ribcage. Kline let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Leshley lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Kline backwards.

Leshley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kline misses with a wild combination.

Leshley pushes Kline up against the cage in a clinch.

Leshley tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Leshley connects with a knee to the head.

Leshley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Leshley buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kline looks gassed!
Leshley tries to clinch up but Kline circles away and keeps his distance.

Kline tries to keep at a distance but Leshley has taken the fight into the clinch.
Leshley tries to land a knee to the head but Kline blocks with his arms.

Leshley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Leshley moves into the clinch successfully.
Kline is trying to drag Leshley to the mat but Leshley just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Leshley looking to throw knees to the head but Kline is blocking nicely.
Leshley connects with a nasty looking knee right to Kline's face.
Leshley lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Leshley creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Kline's defenses.
Kline tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A bit of stalling here from Leshley.
Leshley landing knees to the head.
Leshley using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Kline has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Kline manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Leshley is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Leshley wants to stand and escape but instead Kline has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Leshley is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Kline prevents Leshley from getting back to his feet.
Kline is fighting to break Leshley's control of his arms but Leshley is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kline loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Leshley controls Kline momentarily but Kline frees himself.
Kline pushing down on Leshley's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Kline wants to control but Leshley is keeping him busy.
Leshley is trying to stand up here but Kline is controlling him well.
Kline throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kline is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Leshley defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kline uses his free foot to push down on Leshley's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Leshley.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leshley tries to hold on but Kline pushes him away.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Kline is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Leshley has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Leshley's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kline wants to control the pace but Leshley is squirming around nicely.
Leshley tries to hold on but Kline pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Leshley dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Leshley closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Leshley throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Klines head.
Leshley misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kline.
Kline jumps guard but Leshley stands there with Kline around his waist. Kline gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kline wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Leshley manages to break the clinch.
Leshley wants to clinch but Kline slips to the side
and Kline counters with a three punch combo that has Leshley backing up. Leshley nods at Kline to acknowledge the strikes.

Leshley gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Kline avoids the elbow strike from Leshley, against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Leshley gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

Leshley gets underhooks to prevent Kline's takedown attempt.

Kline keeps the fight on the outside.
Leshley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kline tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Leshley swivels and escapes.
Bobby Leshley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Kline.

Leshley closes the distance and clinches.
Leshley is pressed up against the cage. Kline has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Leshley down to the mat. Leshley avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kline moves in looking to clinch but Leshley pushes him off.
Kline closes the distance and clinches up with Leshley, looking for a takedown. Kline pushes Leshley against the cage but Leshley circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Leshley punishes Kline's body with a nice straight punch.
Leshley wants to clinch up but Kline keeps it at a distance.
Leshley tries to close the distance and clinch but Kline swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Leshley rushes Kline and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Leshley jumps into guard, dragging Kline to the mat.
Leshley is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Kline wants to pass the guard but Leshley is keeping the position.

Leshley pushes Kline off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Kline swats away the attempt to clinch by Leshley.

Leshley tries a knee to the head but Kline blocks it.
Leshley wants to stall.
Leshley effectively controlling the action here.
Kline keeps control of Leshley as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kline has Leshley pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Leshley manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Leshley crunches a lovely knee into Kline's ribcage.
Kline has had enough of the clinch but Leshley keeps him there for the moment.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Kline as Leshley tries to tie him up.
Leshley tries to land knees in the clinch but Kline avoids the damage to the body.
Kline digs a right hand into Leshley's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Leshley's gas tank.
Kline wants a takedown but no success here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

and Leshley counters with a nice uppercut.

Leshley has closed the distance and engaged Kline in a clinch.
Leshley goes for a takedown attempt but Kline pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Leshley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Leshley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Leshley forces Kline back against the cage and clinches.

Kline lands a takedown into guard.
Kline passes Leshley's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Leshley wants to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kline passes the guard and advances to mount!
Kline avoids the attempt from Leshley to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kline with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Leshley is in all sorts of trouble here.
Leshley tries to hold on but Kline pushes him away.

Kline is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Kline extends the arm and Leshley is forced to tap!
