Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Benito Roach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrei Klinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrei Klinov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benito Roach! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrei Klinov! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Klinov tries to clinch but fails miserably and Roach counters with a nice double leg into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Roach throws a big right hand that misses. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Roach's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Klinov working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Roach. Klinov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Roach scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Roach in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Klinov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roach working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Klinov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Roach scoring with some ground and pound. Roach has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Roach postures up in Klinov's guard and throws a big left but Klinov blocks it. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Roach's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Klinov trying to control the position.
Klinov wants to control the position but Roach says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Klinov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roach. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Klinov trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Roach breaks from Klinov's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roach landing strikes, looking to finish! Roach connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Roach wants to finish this one by submission but Klinov is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Roach. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Roach is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Klinov is surviving well by controlling Roach's body position as best he can. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Roach cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roach unloading with bombs! Klinov is trying to escape the mount.
Roach landing shots from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Roach putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Roach lands with some strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Klinov stops Roach from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Roach looking to secure an arm triangle but Klinov defends it well. Roach lands a heavy elbow. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Roach landing strikes from the mount. Roach lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Benito Roach dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Klinov misses with a takedown and Roach finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Roach is looking to chop away at Klinov's legs. Sloppy strikes from Klinov. Those never looked like landing. Roach throws a push kick but Klinov slaps the foot to one side. Klinov feints and then cracks Roach's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Roach down. Roach will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Klinov fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Roach throws a right and a left that Klinov avoids nicely. Klinov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Roach but Roach pushes him off and we're back to square one. Benito Roach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrei Klinov. Roach is looking to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roach forces Klinov back against the cage and clinches. Roach is trying to force a seperation but Klinov has the dominant position. Roach is defending well against a takedown attempt. Klinov is trying to break the clinch but Roach has him pressed against the cage. Klinov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Roach to keep the fight standing. Roach has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Klinov after a bit of a struggle. Klinov drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Klinov is breathing heavily. Klinov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Klinov tries to clinch but Roach moves out of range. Klinov avoids the head kick by Roach.
Klinov blocks the body kick.
Klinov thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Roach if he has to take too many more of those.
Klinov tries for a takedown but Roach sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Klinov closes the distance looking to clinch and Roach counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Klinov is trying to maintain a safe position but Roach gets an underhook and turns Klinov into the cage. Klinov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Roach smiles and moves away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roach feints and as Klinov raises his hands in defense, Roach changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Roach working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Klinov's head. Roach with a nice head shot there. Klinov is looking to sweep but instead, Roach has passed into half guard.
Klinov has hold of Roach's hands but Roach slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Roach is thwarting Klinov's attempts to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roach wants to work for an arm triangle but Klinov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ground and pound from Roach. Roach is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Klinov has managed to free his arm - good work. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Roach scores with a couple of good hammerfists. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Benito Roach dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!
Klinov tries for a takedown but Roach sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Klinov gets caught flat footed, as Roach shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Klinov wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Roach is now in half guard. Roach is looking for a kimura but Klinov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Roach to get the leverage. Benito Roach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Roach looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Klinov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Roach is looking for a kimura but Klinov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Roach to get the leverage. Klinov missing with punches from the bottom.
Roach moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Klinov. Klinov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roach lands a decent elbow from side control. Roach is trying to get an arm triangle but Klinov is defending well. Klinov looks to move to half guard but instead Roach has passed into mount! Damn!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roach unloading with bombs! Roach landing strikes from the mount. Roach trying to control but he's not successful this time. Roach looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Roach prevents Klinov from getting the reversal. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Roach is looking to work his way around to Klinov's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. BOOM! Roach connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Klinov is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roach with the ground and pound from mount. Klinov is still in real trouble! Can Roach finish him? Roach jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Klinov manages to avoid the submission attempt. Roach lands a decent elbow from side control. Roach has an Americana. Klinov didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Roach is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Roach hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Benito Roach!
