Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fabio Oberherr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marku Hunto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marku Hunto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fabio Oberherr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marku Hunto!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hunto moves into the clinch.
Oberherr looking for a takedown.

Oberherr has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hunto uses from the top position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hunto wants to control from the top but Oberherr keeps moving.
Oberherr will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Oberherr is trying to control the position but Hunto postures up.
Hunto advances position into side control!

Hunto stands up and beckons Oberherr to his feet.

Oberherr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hunto to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Oberherr has momentary wrist control but Hunto slips an elbow through the middle.
Oberherr controls Hunto momentarily but Hunto frees himself.
Hunto stops Oberherr from standing up.

Hunto content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hunto tries to free his leg and advance position but Oberherr is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Oberherr wants to get back to his feet but Hunto passes into half guard.

Hunto stands up out of the half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hunto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Oberherr changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hunto tries to avoid it but Oberherr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hunto to the ground. Hunto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hunto avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hunto trying to control but Oberherr is working from the bottom.
Oberherr trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hunto passes Oberherr's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Hunto takes the fight into the clinch.

Hunto throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Oberherr was covering up waiting for the punch and Hunto finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hunto drives through with a takedown into Oberherr's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Oberherr lands a decent shot there.
Oberherr looking to control.

Oberherr is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hunto defends well.

Oberherr tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hunto wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hunto swings around for an armbar but Oberherr sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hunto's guard.
Hunto seems keen to control Oberherr's posture.
Hunto tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hunto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Oberherr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oberherr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Oberherr's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Oberherr is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Oberherr wants to control from the top but Hunto keeps moving.

Oberherr decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marku Hunto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Hunto does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Oberherr shoots for a double leg takedown but Hunto sprawls well. He's pushed Oberherr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Oberherr fails to land the takedown.
Hunto stuffs the takedown attempt from Oberherr. Oberherr gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabio Oberherr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Oberherr throws a right hand that Hunto ducks under and follows up with a left that Hunto also avoids with ease.
Oberherr wants to clinch.
Oberherr shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hunto sprawls well. Hunto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Oberherr gets slowly back to his feet.

Hunto feints and as Oberherr raises his hands in defense, Hunto changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hunto drops back looking for a leg! Oberherr is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oberherr manages to kick Hunto off! Hunto jumps back into Oberherr's guard.

Hunto closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Oberherr did well to prevent Hunto getting side control.

Oberherr is trying to get back to full guard.

Hunto wants to free his trapped foot but Oberherr is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Oberherr has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hunto is working away from the top position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Oberherr wants to clinch up but Hunto keeps it at a distance.

Hunto closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Oberherr is trying to control Hunto's posture but Hunto avoids it.

Hunto is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Oberherr has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Fabio Oberherr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well Hunto has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
