Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trent Weeks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Agniesz Plonski! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Plonski throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Weeks tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Plonski is in Weeks's guard. Weeks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Weeks looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Plonski passes into half guard. Plonski winds up and cracks Weeks with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Plonski is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Plonski is figuring out what he wants to do next. Plonski working Weeks over with strikes. Weeks avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Plonski. Plonski slows the pace down in half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Weeks tries to get to full guard but Plonski has control of the leg. Plonski with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Plonski slips a nice elbow through Weeks's hands, connecting with Weeks's forehead. Plonski takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Plonski drops an elbow to the side of Weeks's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Weeks tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Plonski perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Weeks tries to get to full guard but Plonski has control of the leg. Weeks is not content to let Plonski control the position. Plonski performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Agniesz Plonski hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Weeks darts in looking for a takedown but Plonski gets double underhooks and turns Weeks into the cage. Plonski has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Weeks uses from the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Weeks trying to stand up but can't free himself from Plonski's guard. Weeks working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Weeks postures up in Plonski's guard and throws a big left but Plonski blocks it. Plonski wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Weeks throws a big elbow that misses. Weeks throws an elbow that misses. Plonski uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Weeks's guard. Nice move by Plonski! The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Plonski won't allow Weeks to sweep him here. Plonski connects with a couple of short punches. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Weeks looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Plonski passes into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Weeks throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Weeks is breathing heavily. Plonski is looking to take a break and control but Weeks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Plonski landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Plonski takes a little break here. Weeks wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Weeks is looking for a sweep. Check out the look on Plonski's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Plonski lands a decent elbow from side control. Plonski has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Plonski connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Weeks some visible discomfort.
Weeks is rocked! Plonski is working Weeks over with some ground and pound from side control. Oh Weeks is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Plonski working the head with strikes. A big shot lands for Plonski! That's hurt Weeks! Will he recover? Plonski fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
