Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ike Hayden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sasha Metelkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Metelkin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9bCLPwzSC0 kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ike Hayden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sasha Metelkin! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Metelkin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Metelkin instigates a clinch. Hayden jumps guard and drags Metelkin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Metelkin wants to pass the guard but Hayden is keeping the position. Metelkin wants to control from the top but Hayden keeps moving. Metelkin is stalling in the full guard. Hayden controls Metelkin momentarily but Metelkin frees himself.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sasha Metelkin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Oooooh!!! Metelkin has knocked Hayden down with a huge combo! Metelkin steps away and waves a wobbly Hayden back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Ike Hayden has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Metelkin drives through and clinches with Hayden against the cage.
Hayden pulls guard. Metelkin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hayden utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hayden holds on and takes a little breather. Metelkin is stalling in the full guard. Hayden manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Metelkin holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Hayden tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Metelkin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Hayden.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Metelkin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hayden avoids the attempt from Metelkin to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Metelkin is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Metelkin tries to reverse the position but Hayden maintains control. Hayden working Metelkin over with strikes here. Hayden landing shots from mount. Metelkin is trying desperately to improve position. Metelkin gets back to half guard. Metelkin is trying to control but can't.

Hayden throws a strike but Metelkin avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Hayden decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Metelkin, up you get! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Metelkin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Metelkin scores with a decent looking hook. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hayden circles away from the clinch attempt.
Metelkin throws a right and a left that Hayden avoids nicely. Metelkin closes the distance but Hayden moves to the side and Hayden counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Metelkin! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sasha Metelkin dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ike Hayden's cut. That's time! Hayden's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Metelkin rushes Hayden and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hayden jumps into guard, dragging Metelkin to the mat.
Metelkin content to stall in guard here. Metelkin wants to pass the guard but Hayden is keeping the position. Ike Hayden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Metelkin trying to control the position from guard on top but Hayden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Metelkin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Metelkin has taken the fight to the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Metelkin just leaning against Hayden, taking a breather. Metelkin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hayden slaps away a takedown attempt from Metelkin, before circling back to the center of the mat. Metelkin is breathing heavily. Metelkin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Metelkin throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hayden counters with a stiff right hand. Ike Hayden is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Metelkin doesn't manage to clinch there - Hayden circles away.
Metelkin moves to clinch but Hayden breaks away and Hayden counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hayden lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Metelkin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hayden connects with a nice short shot to Metelkin's temple. Metelkin is trying to maintain the position but Hayden is very close to passing his half guard. Metelkin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hayden prevents Metelkin from improving his position. Hayden lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Metelkin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hayden decides to return to a standing position. Hayden blocks a head kick by Metelkin.
Metelkin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hayden ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hayden no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Metelkin drops Hayden with a beautiful combination! Hayden stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Metelkin is looking for the KO! Oh Hayden is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hayden avoids the head kick by Metelkin.
A punch combination from Metelkin misses. Metelkin pushes Hayden up against the cage in a clinch. Hayden gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Metelkin wants to get back to his feet but Hayden is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Metelkin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Metelkin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hayden can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hayden throwing strikes but missing. Hayden preventing the sweep. Metelkin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hayden gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Metelkin can do anything to dispel that myth. Hayden postures up.
Hayden throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Metelkin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hayden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Metelkin throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Hayden loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Metelkin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hayden doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hayden manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Metelkin controls Hayden momentarily but Hayden frees himself. Hayden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Metelkin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hayden won't allow Metelkin to get back to his feet. Hayden loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hayden is in close to Metelkin's body, working some short punches and elbows. Metelkin trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Hayden trying to stand up but can't free himself from Metelkin's guard. Hayden throwing strikes from guard but Metelkin blocks nicely. Metelkin wants to stand but Hayden is controlling the position. Metelkin is looking for a triangle but Hayden pushes his legs off easily.
Metelkin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hayden gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Metelkin wants to stand and escape but Hayden is having none of it. Metelkin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Hayden lands a couple of decent looking shots. Hayden seems to have got his legs back now. Hayden decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Metelkin gets a clinch. Hayden's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A nice combination there by Metelkin.
Sasha Metelkin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hayden gets a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Metelkin pulls guard effortlessly. Metelkin tries to strike from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hayden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Metelkin wants to get back to his feet but Hayden passes into half guard.

Hayden cracks Metelkin with a solid left hand. Hayden scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Metelkin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hayden decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Metelkin, up you get! A big right from Hayden misses. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hayden connects with a good right hand that stumbles Metelkin. Metelkin circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Ike Hayden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sasha Metelkin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Hayden misses with a two punch combination.
And that's the end of the fight! Sasha Metelkin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Metelkin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
