Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harvey Griffith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Pettis's choice of entrance music: DJ Kahli Go Hard. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Harvey Griffith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffith moves out of range of the strikes.
Pettis with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Griffith looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Pettis gets a double leg takedown into Griffith's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Griffith trying to keep a closed guard but Pettis is proving a slippery customer.
Pettis controls from within his opponent's guard.
Griffith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pettis looking to pass the guard.
Pettis is looking to stand up but Griffith won't let him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Griffith holds on and takes a little breather.

Harvey Griffith has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Pettis pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Griffith checks a low kick from Pettis.
Pettis misses with a lunging right hand

and Griffith moves into the clinch.
Pettis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Pettis is trying to break free.
Griffith is trying to pull guard but Pettis has him pressed against the cage.

Griffith pulls Pettis into guard.
Pettis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Griffith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Griffith is looking to stand up but Pettis isn't so interested in that idea.
Pettis is looking to work some ground and pound but Griffith has wrist control.
Pettis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Griffith tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pettis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Griffith is breathing heavily.

Griffith is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pettis asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Pettis tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pettis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Griffith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pettis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Griffith has escaped the position, nice work there.

Pettis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffith keeps working.
Pettis tries to advance to mount but Griffith denies him.

Pettis stands up and beckons Griffith to his feet.
Pettis looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Pettis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Griffith manages to avoid it.

Pettis cracks Griffith with an uppercut from hell and Griffith crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Pettis's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!


Griffith is rocked!


It looks like Harvey Griffith has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Griffith keeping moving, preventing Pettis from controlling successfully.
Oh Griffith is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pettis has gone for a leg lock! Griffith slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pettis's guard.
Pettis wants to stand up but Griffith is controlling him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pettis is on top in guard.
Pettis is looking to stand up but Griffith won't let him.

Pettis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Pettis won't allow Griffith to sweep him here.
Griffith wants to stand up but Pettis is controlling him.
Pettis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Griffith is proving hard to escape from.

Pettis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Griffith preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Pettis stands and throws Griffith's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Pettis wants to stand but Griffith is controlling his arm.

Pettis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pettis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pettis wants to stand but Griffith is controlling his arm.
Pettis is looking to take a break and control but Griffith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pettis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Griffith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Pettis tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Pettis tries for a kimura but Griffith is defending well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Griffith is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Pettis off and has taken his back!
Pettis turns into Griffith and is now in his guard.
Griffith seems to have got his legs back now.
Griffith has a closed guard, preventing Pettis from standing up.
Pettis looking to sit in guard and control but Griffith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antonio Pettis dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Harvey Griffith's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Pettis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Griffith to the ground. Pettis is now in Griffith's guard.
Griffith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pettis is one step ahead there.
Griffith has a closed guard, preventing Pettis from standing up.
Griffith keeping moving, preventing Pettis from controlling successfully.
Pettis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Griffith is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Griffith jumps guard but Pettis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Griffith wants a takedown.
Griffith misses with a punch to the body.
Pettis is trying to break the clinch but Griffith has him pressed against the cage.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harvey Griffith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pettis is pressed up against the cage. Griffith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pettis down to the mat. Pettis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Pettis connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Griffith to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Pettis!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Antonio Pettis!
Antonio Pettis very nearly forgot to thank The Exiled Clothing amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
