PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Nepobedimyj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Frederiksen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frederiksen has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Fred Frederiksen looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fred Frederiksen!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nepobedimyj clinches up with Frederiksen and pushes him back against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Frederiksen.

Nepobedimyj is trying to break the clinch but Frederiksen is controlling him.

Nepobedimyj tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Frederiksen smiles and moves away.

Nepobedimyj throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Frederiksen was covering up waiting for the punch and Nepobedimyj finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Nepobedimyj stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frederiksen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nepobedimyj tries to free his leg and advance position but Frederiksen is retaining full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Nepobedimyj throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Frederiksen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nepobedimyj is in Frederiksen's guard.

Nepobedimyj seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Frederiksen for as long as he can get away with.

Nepobedimyj closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Frederiksen quickly recovers to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nepobedimyj, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
