Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Stanley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Cormeir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stanley comes to the cage accompanied by The man that you FEAR . Cormeir has chosen -N- The Bay as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kyle Stanley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cain Cormeir! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stanley feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cormeirs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Cormeir avoids the body shot from Stanley.
Stanley has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Killers Concentration Camp in the buildup to the fight. Stanley throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Stanley slaps away a takedown attempt from Cormeir, before circling back to the center of the mat. Cain Cormeir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cormeir looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Stanley wants to get back to full guard. Stanley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cormeir is working away from the top position though. Cormeir not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Stanley avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cormeir. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cormeir postures up in Stanley's guard and throws a big left but Stanley blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stanley is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cormeir defends well. My spies in Silverback MMA Academy (Elite + Sauna & 160VM) inform me that Cormeir has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Cormeir makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Stanley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cormeir doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cormeir manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. That's two minutes gone in the round. Cormeir wants to free his trapped foot but Stanley is holding on for dear life with his legs. Stanley slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Cormeir wants to control from the top but Stanley keeps moving. Stanley has his foot on Cormeir's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cormeir works his way back into a safe position though. Cormeir stays in close to Stanley's body and controls the position. Stanley trying to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cormeir scoring with punches to the head and body. Cormeir scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Cormeir cracks Stanley with a solid left hand. Stanley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cormeir's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Cormeir missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Cormeir looking to pass the guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! The fighters circling - Stanley throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Excellent takedown into side control there by Cormeir. Cormeir works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Stanley sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Nice strikes from Cormeir there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stanley tries to get to full guard but Cormeir has control of the leg. Stanley works his way to full guard. Good work. Stanley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cormeir manages to get himself to full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cormeir postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cain Cormeir dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Cormeir shoots in but Stanley avoids the takedown attempt easily. Cormeir takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Stanley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Cormeir fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kyle Stanley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Cormeir. Stanley is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cormeir. Stanley defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cormeir. Cormeir gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Stanley. Cormeir shoots in for a double leg but Stanley sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Cormeir looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A chopping leg kick lands by Stanley. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stanley misses with a hook. Cormeir ducked under it nicely. Nice straight punches there by Stanley. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Stanley. Cormeir shoots in looking for a takedown. Stanley tries to sprawl out of it but Cormeir keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stanley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Stanley lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Cormeir gets a clinch. A short body shot lands from Stanley as the two fighters clinch.

Both fighters circling a little - Stanley finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Cormeir is breathing heavily. Cormeir shoots in but no luck this time. Stanley lands with a nice body punch. Stanley scores with a punch to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Stanley.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cormeir tries for a takedown but Stanley sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Stanley moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Stanley fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cormeir. Cormeir chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Stanley can pounce on him.
That kick from Stanley tenderised Cormeir's leg. Cormeir is trying to keep his angry face on. Stanley leaves Cormeir with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Stanley lands a front kick. Cormeir drives through with a takedown into Stanley's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Stanley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cormeir's guard.

Stanley stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stanley wants it to stay on the feet. Cormeir closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Stanley regains half guard. Cormeir sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stanley defending well though. Nice strikes from Cormeir there. Stanley wants to control but Cormeir is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cormeir looks to land a strike but Stanley avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Cormeir must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cormeir postures up and lands a big shot to Stanley's brow. Cormeir looking to improve position, pressing down on Stanley's thigh with his hand. Stanley seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Cormeir paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Cormeir's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Stanley picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
