PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shortie Fat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quick Death (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shortie Fat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Quick Death!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Francis DeMontford and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Fat.
Fat shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Death dives in and grabs Fat's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fat pushes down on Death's head and hops out.
Fat tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Death swivels and escapes.
Death fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fat avoids it really well and circles away.
Death is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fat sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Shortie Fat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quick Death.
Death looks winded!
Fat tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Death swivels and escapes.

Fat darts in and clinches Death up against the cage.
Fat prevents a takedown attempt there.
Death drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fat pulls his leg out and moves away.
Fat throws a head kick but Death moves out of range.

Fat clinches with his opponent.
Stalling in the clinch from Fat.
Death prevents the takedown attempt.

Death keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Fat's efforts to push away.

Fat drags the fight down to the ground.

Death is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fat is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fat has escaped and now he's on top!
Fat slips nicely into half guard.
Fat looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fat stands up from half guard.
Fat lands a nice hook to Death's body. Death takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Fat tries a head kick but it misses.
Fat cracks Death with a good jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fat clinches.
Fat is trying to drag Death to the mat but Death just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Fat tries for a takedown but Death manages to get underhooks.
Fat prevents the takedown attempt.
Fat stalling in the clinch.
Death changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Fat fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Fat throws a right and a left that Death avoids nicely.
Fat shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Death as he jumps to the side.

Fat scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Death defending against the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Death tries to improve position but can't.
Fat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Death managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Fat.

Fat decides to stand back up. Fat steps back and let's Death get back to his feet.
Quick Death seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fat lands with a nice combination. Death backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Quick Death has been cut.
Death moves out of range of the leg kick from Fat.
Fat doesn't manage to clinch there - Death circles away.
Death tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fat defends well and Death ends up having to push Fat into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Fat is trying to trip Death. He has hold of a leg but Death is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Fat persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Death looking to control but Fat passes into half guard.
Fat perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Death is staying active underneath Fat, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Death looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Fat missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Death wants to control but Fat is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Death looking for submissions off his back.
Fat has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fat sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fat looking to control but Death is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shortie Fat dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Quick Death's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Fat shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Death pinned against the cage. Death gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fat moves in looking to clinch but Death pushes him off.
Death tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fat swivels and escapes.
Death shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fat but Fat pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Shortie Fat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quick Death.
Nice sprawl there from Death as Fat shoots in.

Fat rushes Death and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Fat digs a right hand into Death's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Death's gas tank.

Fat gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Death is breathing heavily.
Fat has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fat looking to control but Death is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Fat controlling his opponent.
Fat landing strikes from the mount and Death is in trouble!
Fat throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Fat thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Fat controlling the pace for now.
Fat seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Death for as long as he can get away with.
Fat looking to control but Death is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Death wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Shortie Fat overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fat has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Death.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
What can Death do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Death tries to roll but Fat sticks to his back.
Fat scores with punches and elbows.
Death has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Fat.
Fat biding his time, looking for the opening.
Fat is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Death. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Fat lands a shot to the head.
Death staying busy and making it hard for Fat to control.
Fat is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Death is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Fat is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Fat is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Death has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Fat controlling the positon.
Fat tries to get the hooks in deep but Death pushed the leg off.

Fat keeps control of the position easily here as Death tries to buck him off.
Death can't escape the position.

Fat is looking for the choke from the back position but Death is controlling his hands well.

Death is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Fat gets his way!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Death is trying to get back to his feet but Fat has full control of the position and if anything, Death has just worked his way into a worse spot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Quick Death's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Fat lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Death shoots in and bounces Fat off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Death looking to sit in guard and control but Fat gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Fat might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fat working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Fat drops back looking for a leg! Death is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Death manages to kick Fat off! Fat jumps back into Death's guard.
Death really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fat. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Death has an active guard here but Fat has managed to pass into half guard.
Death takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Death wants to get back to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Death can do anything to dispel that myth.

Fat perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Death trying to get back to full guard but Fat takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Death tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Fat is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Death is surviving well by controlling Fat's body position as best he can.
Fat controlling the pace for now.
Fat landing strikes, looking to finish!
Fat manages to capitalize on a mistake by Death to take his back!

Death trying to control the position but Fat manages to sink in the hooks.
Fat has good solid back control here.
Death trying to control the hands but Fat breaks the grip.
Fat slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Death tries to escape but Fat has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Fat is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Death is defending well though. Fat let's go of the attempt for now.
Fat punches the canvas rather than the man.

Fat controlling well, preventing Death from escaping the position.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Fat controlling the positon.
Death trying to control the action but Fat just sinks the hooks in.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fat has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Death has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Quick Death has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Shortie Fat is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Fat controlling well, preventing Death from escaping the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shortie Fat showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Fat has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
