PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Garrick Knott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boros Monet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monet has chosen Downstait - Open Your Eyes as his entrance music. Garrick Knott had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Garrick Knott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Boros Monet!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monet tries to bum rush Knott with a series of wild strikes but Knott uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Knott has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Knott closes the distance and clinches up with Monet, looking for a takedown. Knott pushes Monet against the cage but Monet circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Knott misses with a body punch
and Monet counters with a one-two to the body.
Monet looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Knott misses with a shot to the body
and Monet counters with a good, hard body kick but Knott shrugs it off.

Knott gets a double leg takedown into Monet's guard.
Monet utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Knott drops back looking for a leg! Monet is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Monet manages to kick Knott off! Knott jumps back into Monet's guard.
Knott throwing strikes from guard but Monet blocks nicely.
Knott might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Knott throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Monet works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Monet really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Monet wants to stand and escape but Knott is having none of it.
Knott missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Knott throws a big right hand that misses.
Knott throwing strikes but missing.
Knott passes Monet's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Knott is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Monet doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Knott.
Knott has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Monet is defending against the submission attempts here by Knott.

Knott is looking for a kimura but Monet is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Knott to get the leverage.
Knott thows a huge punch but Monet dodges it nicely.
Monet is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knott thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Knott missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Knott really is a fat lump.

Monet is refusing to be controlled, as Knott sits in half guard.

Knott is working for a kimura but Monet is defending it quite comfortably.

Knott throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Knott is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Monet is just riding it out for now. Knott eventually gives up the hold.

Knott is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Monet doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Knott.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Knott not landing any meaningful shots this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!

Monet keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Knott throws a lazy body kick
and Monet counters with a two punch combo.
Monet misses with a series of wild punches.
Monet lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Monet.

It looks like Garrick Knott has been cut.
Knott slips a jab and a cross from Monet.
Knott tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Monet swivels and escapes.
Knott shoots for a double leg takedown but Monet sprawls well. He's pushed Knott's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Monet lands a big head kick that sends Knott tumbling to the mat! Monet takes a step backwards and waves Knott back to his feet - he wants the finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Monet lands a left and a right that send Knott crashing to the mat, dazed. Monet thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Knott is rocked!
Monet lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Knott circles away quickly and effectively.
Oh Knott is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Monet is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Monet shuts the power down on Knott. Lights out, game over! Monet is your winner.

Boros Monet tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
