PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevor Reznick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jiu Jitsu has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jiu Jitsu seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jitsu.
Reznick misses with a leg kick.
Jitsu shoots in for a takedown but Reznick shows good takedown defense.
Jitsu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reznick sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jitsu somewhat.

Jitsu closes the distance and clinches up with Reznick, looking for a takedown. Jitsu pushes Reznick against the cage but Reznick circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Jitsu shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Reznick pinned against the cage. Reznick gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Jitsu on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Reznick has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Jitsu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Reznick counters with a head kick that drops Jitsu to the mat! Jitsu scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Jitsu takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Reznick slaps away a takedown attempt from Jitsu, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Jitsu gets tackled into the cage by Reznick. Reznick maintains the clinch.
Reznick pushes off an throws an elbow but Jitsu leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Jitsu shoots in and gets a takedown into Reznick's guard.

Reznick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jitsu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jitsu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reznick wants to control but Jitsu is keeping him busy.
Jitsu is trying to escape the position but Reznick is controlling the position.
Jitsu tries to buck Reznick off but Reznick is having none of it.
Reznick is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Jitsu throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Jitsu tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Reznick wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Jitsu misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jitsu is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Reznick pulls his head out easily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Reznick wants to clinch up but Jitsu keeps it at a distance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jitsu changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reznick looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Reznick avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jitsu.
Jitsu throws a strike aimed at the side of Reznick's head but Reznick avoids it well.

Jitsu is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Reznick is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Reznick drops Jitsu onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Jitsu is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

Reznick dips a shoulder and cracks Jitsu with a mighty uppercut! Jitsu falls back against the cage and Reznick unloads with a barrage of strikes! Jitsu is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Reznick screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
