Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bastian Nokia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patrick Cote! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cote closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nokia to the mat! Nokia manages to get full guard. Cote is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Cote looking to sit in guard and control but Nokia gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cote wants to get back to his feet but Nokia is in a dominant position and won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cote is striking from the bottom but Nokia uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cote looking for submissions off his back. Cote is looking to improve his position.
Cote is trying to maintain the position but Nokia is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Cote flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Cote is doing well to control the position and prevent Nokia from advancing to side control. Cote pushes Nokia off looking to stand but Nokia dives back in and keeps control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cote closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nokia did well to prevent Cote getting side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cote not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Cote is controlling the pace.
Cote wants to advance to full mount but Nokia doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Nokia keeping moving, preventing Cote from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cote loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nokia is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Patrick Cote will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Cote drives through with a takedown into guard. Cote looking to sit in guard and control but Nokia gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cote is looking for a triangle but Nokia pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cote is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Nokia is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Cote is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cote working a defensive guard but Nokia passes into half guard.
Cote is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nokia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nokia's back! Patrick Cote has got the better of the ground game so far. Cote working for a choke but Nokia reverses nicely into Cote 's guard. Cote tries to strike from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nokia not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Cote throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Cote is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Nokia seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Cote working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Nokia has passed into half guard!

That was a close second round but I would say that Bastian Nokia will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Nokia has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Cote is on him like a limpet, forcing Nokia back against the cage. Cote decides to pull guard. Cote doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cote is looking for a triangle here but Nokia uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Nokia stalls from top position. Cote tries to improve position but can't. A control attempt from Cote but he's now mounted!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cote tries to improve his position but instead Nokia has taken his back! Nokia has good solid back control here. Cote tries to roll but Nokia sticks to his back.
Cote is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Nokia.

Cote is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cote just trying to survive but Nokia is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Cote gets a takedown into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Patrick Cote. Well Cote has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
