Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dustin Lewis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dustin Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Bane!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Roberts and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bane throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Lewis drives through with a takedown into Bane's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Bane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Lewis forces his way into half guard.

Bane is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lewis pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lewis wants to work for an arm triangle but Bane is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lewis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bane swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bane is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Our spies down at at The Sweat Lodge inform us that Bane has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Lewis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lewis is fighting to break Bane's control of his arms but Bane is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Bane wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Lewis is now in half guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bane wants to improve his position but Lewis is controlling well.

Lewis is fighting to break Bane's control of his arms but Bane is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Bane shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lewis as he avoids it easily.

Bane has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lewis!
Lewis is squirming around, avoiding Bane's attempts to control the action.
Lewis is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bane is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lewis can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Bane is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Lewis is surviving well by controlling Bane's body position as best he can.

A close round but Billy Bane will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bane is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dustin Lewis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bane throws a shot to the body.

Bane closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lewis to the mat! Lewis manages to get full guard.

Lewis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lewis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bane has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lewis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lewis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bane is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Bane has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lewis tries to stall but Bane uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dustin Lewis.
I think Bane has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
