Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jimmy Morris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kahwaah Jeeri! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jeeri shoots in and bounces Morris off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Jeeri is stalling in the full guard. Morris utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Morris working a defensive guard here.
Jeeri has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jeeri is pushing down on Morris's leg trying to pass to half guard. Morris is fighting to maintain full guard but Jeeri has managed to sneak the leg through. Morris wants to get back to full guard. Jeeri not doing much here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morris is trying to stand up here but Jeeri is controlling him well. Jeeri is trying to control. Morris wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Jeeri is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jeeri thows a huge punch but Morris dodges it nicely.
Jeeri content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Morris definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Jeeri is working for a kimura but Morris is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Morris tries to roll over but Jeeri keeps him under control. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jeeri in particular looking to stall.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Jeeri dives in and grabs Morris's left leg, looking for a takedown. Morris pushes down on Jeeri's head and hops out. Morris getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Nice takedown defense from Morris. No joy for Jeeri on that attempt. Jeeri scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Morris is breathing heavily. Jeeri wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Morris, who protects the arm well. Jeeri is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Morris will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Jeeri working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Jeeri tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jeeri has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jeeri is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Morris has escaped the position, nice work there. Morris on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Morris tries to get out of the position. Jeeri tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jeeri advances nicely into full mount. Jeeri looking to control and managing it successfully. Jeeri's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Jeeri tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Jeeri sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jeeri controlling from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kahwaah Jeeri dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Jeeri forces Morris back against the cage and clinches. Morris has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Jeeri has clasped his hands together around Morris's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Morris knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jeeri on the ground. Jeeri tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jeeri sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Morris is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Jeeri is looking to take a break and control but Morris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jeeri throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Morris is looking for a sweep. A lull in the action here. Morris dodges the ground and pound from Jeeri. Jeeri has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Jeeri tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jeeri taking a breather here. Jeeri trying to control the position but Morris is working away. Jeeri working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

This isn't 1993 though, so Morris shrugs it off. Jeeri scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Morris?

Jeeri is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Morris has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Kahwaah Jeeri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Jeeri shoots in looking for a takedown but Morris manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jeeri's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Morris looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jeeri is fending him off so far but Morris persists. Nope, Jeeri circles away and we're back to standing. Jeeri clinches up with Morris and pushes him back against the cage. Morris stops a takedown attempt from Jeeri.
Morris drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jeeri pulls his leg out and moves away.
Morris defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jeeri. Jimmy Morris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kahwaah Jeeri. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jeeri looks for a takedown but Morris sprawls well. Morris shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jeeri napping and manages to drive through into side control! Morris will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morris tries to stand but Jeeri is controlling his head. Jeeri is pushing Morris's head away, looking to escape. Morris manages to hold on to the position though. Jeeri manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Jeeri regains full guard. Nicely done. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jeeri is on top in guard.
Jeeri is stalling in the full guard. Jeeri content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Kahwaah Jeeri is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jeeri drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jeeri jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Jeeri is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Jeeri is pushing down on Morris's leg trying to pass to half guard. Morris is fighting to maintain full guard but Jeeri has managed to sneak the leg through. Jeeri works his way into side control. Jeeri is staying tight to Morris's torso, preventing him from escaping. Let's hope that Jeeri has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Jeeri in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jeeri remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. More stalling from Jeeri. Kahwaah Jeeri has got the better of the ground game so far. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Jeeri.

Morris gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Morris holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jeeri tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
