The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pascal with a poor takedown
and Sobral counters with a thumping low kick.
Pascal shoots in for a takedown but Sobral shows good takedown defense.
Pascal jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sobral throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Sobral lands a nice leg kick that just misses Pascal's sensitive parts.
Pascal on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Pascal gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Renato Sobral seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pascal fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Pascal gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Sobral fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Pascal fails to land the takedown.
Sobral thuds his shin into the meat of Pascal's side.
Sobral connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Renato Sobral is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pascal sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Sobral lets loose with a powerful body kick. Pascal will feel that in the morning.
Pascal is breathing heavily.
Sobral scores with a one two! Pascal had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like Derek Pascal has been cut.

Sobral tries to stand but Pascal is controlling from the bottom.

Sobral wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Pascal's closed guard. He's half up but Pascal has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Pascal pivots and extends the arm, Sobral falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Pascal! Well done that man!
