Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Oscar Dogel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Diego Rodriguez!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dogel tries to clinch but Rodriguez is having none of it.
Rodriguez dives in and grabs Dogel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dogel pushes down on Rodriguez's head and hops out.
Rodriguez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Rodriguez keeps the fight on the outside.
Dogel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dogel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rodriguez tries for a takedown but Dogel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Rodriguez dives in and scores a takedown into Dogel's guard.
Dogel tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rodriguez won't allow Dogel to get back to his feet.
Rodriguez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rodriguez throws a big elbow that misses.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Rodriguez stays in close to Dogel's body and controls the position.
Rodriguez prevents Dogel from getting back to his feet.
Dogel can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rodriguez controls the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dogel lands a right hook to the body.
Dogel tries to close the distance and clinch but Rodriguez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rodriguez shoots in but Dogel avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Oscar Dogel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Rodriguez.
Dogel throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Rodriguez is looking to clinch.
Rodriguez dives in and grabs Dogel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dogel pushes down on Rodriguez's head and hops out.
Rodriguez takes a kick to the side of the head.
Oscar Dogel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dogel wants to clinch but Rodriguez slips to the side

and Rodriguez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dogel's guard.
Rodriguez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rodriguez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Rodriguez content to stall in guard here.
It looks like Rodriguez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Let's hope that Rodriguez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Dogel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rodriguez is stalling in the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rodriguez takes one on the button.
Rodriguez throws a wild body kick that Dogel sees coming a mile off.
Rodriguez fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dogel catches Rodriguez with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Oscar Dogel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dogel tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rodriguez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rodriguez or perhaps it was just good defense by Dogel, which made it look bad.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rodriguez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Dogel scores with a leg kick.
Dogel throws a sloppy head kick and Rodriguez moves out of range easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Oscar Dogel will probably get the nod.
That's time! Dogel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Dogel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rodriguez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dogel lands with an uppercut that bounces Rodriguez off the cage and back into range.
Dogel pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dogel keeps Rodriguez at a distance using the push kick.

Rodriguez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rodriguez takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
A nice leg kick lands there from Dogel.

Rodriguez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dogel swivels and escapes.
Dogel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dogel feints a jab promting Rodriguez to slip. Dogel then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rodriguez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Dogel dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Rodriguez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dogel defends it nicely.
Rodriguez tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Rodriguez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dogel keeps the fight on the outside.
Dogel fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dogel leaves Rodriguez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Oscar Dogel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Rodriguez.
Rodriguez shoots for a double leg takedown but Dogel sprawls well. He's pushed Rodriguez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rodriguez is breathing heavily.

Rodriguez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rodriguez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dogel is looking to break free of the clinch but Rodriguez has double underhooks.

Dogel misses with a knee to the head.
Rodriguez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dogel fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Rodriguez has closed the distance and engaged Dogel in a clinch.
Dogel is trying to break the clinch but Rodriguez has him pressed against the cage.
Rodriguez jumps guard but Dogel stands there with Rodriguez around his waist. Rodriguez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Dogel's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Dogel has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Dogel is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

A body shot lands from Rodriguez.
Rodriguez goes for a takedown attempt but Dogel pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown but Dogel shows good takedown defense.
Rodriguez doesn't manage to clinch there - Dogel circles away.
Dogel throws a nice outside leg kick.
Dogel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rodriguez swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rodriguez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Crunch! Dogel slams his shin into Rodriguez's torso.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Rodriguez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Dogel tries a head kick but it misses.

Rodriguez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dogel defends it easily.

Rodriguez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dogel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Rodriguez is tightening it up a little... Dogel has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Dogel reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Dogel taps out! Nice BJJ there by Rodriguez!
