Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bill Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksandr Kozlov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kozlov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Patrioticheskaya Pesnya. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Hicks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aleksandr Kozlov! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed right hand from Kozlov misses the target. Kozlov catches Hicks with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Hicks steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kozlov. Hicks fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Hicks doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kozlov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Kozlov thows a left - swing and a miss! Hicks on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Hicks takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Hicks has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kozlov. Hicks with a lazy takedown attempt and Kozlov counters with a lovely straight right hand! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill Hicks. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kozlov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kozlov has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. That's one minute gone in the round. Kozlov shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Kozlov throws a hook but Hicks blocks it. Hicks walks into a jab. Hicks shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hicks showed some decent athleticism there. Hicks wants to pass to mount but Kozlov is defending the position. Hicks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Kozlov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hicks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kozlov is trying to stand up here but Hicks is controlling him well. Hicks looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hicks is trying to control. Kozlov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hicks controlling the action here.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Hicks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hicks trying to control the action but Kozlov is working from the bottom. Hicks creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Kozlov is looking for a sweep. Hicks slows the pace down. Kozlov is trying to get back to half guard. Hicks tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kozlov is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kozlov is being controlled here. Hicks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kozlov keeps working. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kozlov is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hicks's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Hicks! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Kozlov has tapped! This one is allllll over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Bill Hicks! After winning the bout, Bill Hicks thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
