PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jodey Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elvis Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elvis Cage struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Perry darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Perry has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Cage is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cage enables Perry to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cage manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Perry takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perry seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Cage is trying to stand up here but Perry is controlling him well.

Perry wants to work for an arm triangle but Cage is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Perry is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cage is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Perry bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Perry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cage keeps working.
Cage throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Perry is looking to take a break and control but Cage is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Perry feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cage has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Perry is working away from the top position though.
Cage is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Perry is staying active.

Cage is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Perry 's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Perry 's back!

Cage has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Perry has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Perry in particular looking to stall.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Perry , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
