Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Keller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Coban Dekkers! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Keller walks into a left hand. Dekkers's coach down at Nonprofit Vegas Elite $50 ($1000 value) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Dekkers's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Dekkers uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Keller has time to react. Keller looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Keller shoots in looking for a takedown. Dekkers tries to sprawl out of it but Keller keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dekkers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Dekkers cracks Keller with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Keller takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Keller shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dekkers as he avoids it easily. Nice body punch from Dekkers. Dekkers throws out a loose jab but Keller uses good head movement to avoid it. Dekkers connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Dekkers stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Keller tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dekkers manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Dekkers throws a hook but Keller blocks it. Dekkers scores with a punch to the head. Dekkers connects with a good right hand that stumbles Keller. Keller circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Keller walks into a straight right hand from Dekkers.
Keller is rocked! Keller ducks right into an uppercut from Dekkers. Oh Keller is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Dekkers throws a big shot that misses. Dekkers stuns Keller with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Keller on the wrong end of a nice hook. Dekkers clinches. Keller stalling the fight.
Dekkers breaks from the clinch.
Dekkers catches Keller with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Dekkers lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Coban Dekkers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dekkers cracks Keller with a right hand to the side of the head. Coban Dekkers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Dekkers looks winded! Dekkers cracks Keller with a good jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A swing and a miss from Dekkers. Keller decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Dekkers is looking to improve his position.
Keller is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dekkers defends it well. Keller wants to work for an arm triangle but Dekkers is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Keller winds up and cracks Dekkers with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Keller seems to have got his legs back now. Keller is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Dekkers is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
