Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter James!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Royler Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James misses the jab.

James gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gracie is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gracie stopping the sweep attempt from James.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

James had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gracie defends it easily.
Gracie trying to control but James is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.
James looking for a sweep. Not yet James, not yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.


That's one minute gone in the round.
James tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
Gracie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
James is looking to pass into half guard but Gracie pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Gracie is in guard.

Gracie wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
James wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment.
James might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

James working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Gracie has passed into half guard!
James is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.

Gracie maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! James could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Gracie has cracked it and James is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Gracie!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Royler Gracie!
Royler Gracie is the new super heavyweight champion!
Royler Gracie decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
