Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Tyrone Bate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Lashley! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Bate as Lashley shoots in. Bate stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bate wants it to stay on the feet. Lashley moves into the clinch. Bate tries to work over Lashley's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Bate is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Lashley pulls guard effortlessly. Bate advances to half guard. Lashley wants to get back to his feet. Bate performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bate missing with the ground and pound from half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bate thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lashley is staying active underneath Bate, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Bate has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bate missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Lashley avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bate. Bate thows a huge punch but Lashley dodges it nicely.
Lashley wants to get back to his feet.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Lashley walks into a left hand. Bate changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lashley looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lashley takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. The ground and pound from Bate seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lashley stops Bate from passing to mount. Bate in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Bate is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lashley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Bate throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Lashley avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Bate. Lashley is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bate has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lashley is not content to let Bate control the position. Bate misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Lashley is not content to let Bate control the position. The strikes coming from Bate are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lashley is pushing Bate's head away, looking to escape. Bate manages to hold on to the position though. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Bate tries for a kimura but Lashley is defending well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bate looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lashley fails in his attempt to clinch. Bate looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. A punch combination from Lashley misses. Bate connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Lashley's hands. Lashley fails with a takedown attempt. Lashley shoots for a takedown but Bate saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Lashley takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lashley shoots in for a takedown but Bate shows good takedown defense. Tyrone Bate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Lashley. Lashley fails with a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice takedown defense from Bate. No joy for Lashley on that attempt. That's one minute gone in the round. Lashley with a poor takedown and Bate counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Lashley throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Bate. The fighters circle momentarily. Bate darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Bate lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Lashley finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Lashley shoots for a double leg takedown but Bate sprawls well. He's pushed Lashley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Lashley tries to clinch up. Lashley fails in his attempt to clinch. Lashley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bate circles away. Lashley is breathing heavily. Lashley has a takedown stuffed. Bate connects with a jab. Lashley takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Lashley has his takedown stuffed and Bate counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Bate pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Lashley back to the cage. Bate follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bate clobbers Lashley with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Lashley tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bate swivels and escapes. Bate scores with a crisp jab that stopped Lashley in his tracks. Bate's corner calls for a 1-2. Bate obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Lashley closes the distance and clinches up with Bate, looking for a takedown. Lashley pushes Bate against the cage but Bate circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Lashley fails with the takedown and Bate connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Bate wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Bate avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lashley wants to clinch. Bate scores with a jab. Bate moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Bate connects with a body shot. Luke Lashley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bate connects with a body shot that sends Lashley's belly button to the back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bate throws out a powerful jab. Bate is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lashley can do to turn this around? Bate lands a jab to Lashley's midsection. Lashley shoots in looking for a takedown. Bate tries to sprawl out of it but Lashley keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bate manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Lashley fails to land with a series of punches.

Bate lunges at Lashley with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Lashley's hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lashley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Good shot there by Bate. Lashley looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Lashley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bate's waist but Bate gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lashley off to one side. Bate jabs at Lashley's body. Jab from Bate. Lashley has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Bate with a body punch. A glancing blow. Lashley misses with a kick to the body.
Lashley has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bate finds it's way round the side to connect with Lashley's head. Bate getting the better of the striking in that exchange. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lashley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bate lands the left hand. Nice body punch from Bate. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyrone Bate dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!
Bate moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Lashley takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Bate cracks Lashley with a good jab. Lashley decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Bate gets full guard. Lashley throws a big elbow that misses. Bate working a defensive guard here.
Bate is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Lashley rolls with it to try and escape but Bate cranks on the arm and Lashley is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
