PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bjorn Eriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Clow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eriksson is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Kyle Clow has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Bjorn Eriksson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bjorn Eriksson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kyle Clow!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clow throws a nice looking combination but Eriksson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Eriksson is breathing heavily.
Clow looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Clow swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Clow stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Clow wants it to stay on the feet.
Clow looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Clow tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Clow closes the distance and clinches.
Clow trying to control the position but instead, Eriksson has worked for underhooks and has pushed Clow into the cage.

Clow breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clow fails with a takedown attempt.

Clow looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Clow throws a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Clow is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Clow thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Clow passes Eriksson's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Clow decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Eriksson swats away the attempt to clinch by Clow.
Clow tries for a takedown but Eriksson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bjorn Eriksson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Clow.
Clow throws a combination. Eriksson tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Clow doesn't manage to clinch there - Eriksson circles away.
Eriksson moves out of range of the body kick.

Clow throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Kyle Clow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clow fails with an attempt to clinch.
Clow misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Clow moves into range and clinches up with Eriksson.

Clow pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Clow closes the distance and pushes Eriksson back into the cage.
Clow lands a body punch in the clinch.

Clow pulls guard effortlessly.
Clow trying to keep a closed guard but Eriksson is proving a slippery customer.
Eriksson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Clow on the ground.

Clow is trying to control the position but Eriksson postures up.

Clow is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Clow lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Clow sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Eriksson's guard.
Clow is keen to just control but Eriksson is a slippery customer.
Eriksson tries to get to full guard but Clow has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Clow dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Clow shoots in but Eriksson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Horrible takedown attempt by Clow or perhaps it was just good defense by Eriksson, which made it look bad.
Clow fails with an attempt to clinch.
Eriksson slips a jab and a cross from Clow.
Eriksson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Clow pushes Eriksson up against the cage in a clinch.
Eriksson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Eriksson keeps control of Clow as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Clow lands a takedown into guard.
Eriksson has a closed guard, preventing Clow from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clow missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Clow wants to control from the top but Eriksson keeps moving.
Clow keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Eriksson's head.
Clow stands up over Eriksson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Eriksson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Eriksson tries to get out of the position.
Clow trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Clow postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Clow trying to control the position from guard on top but Eriksson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Clow wants to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Clow misses with a two punch combination.
A nice leg kick lands there from Clow.
Clow changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eriksson tries to avoid it but Clow manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eriksson to the ground. Eriksson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bjorn Eriksson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Clow.
Clow throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nice sprawl there from Eriksson as Clow shoots in.

Clow instigates a clinch.
Clow jumps guard but Eriksson stands there with Clow around his waist. Clow gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Clow ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Clow no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Clow is on top in guard.

Eriksson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Clow passes Eriksson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Clow looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Eriksson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Clow working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Clow wants to control but Eriksson is keeping him busy.

Well, if Clow is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Clow looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Clow scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Clow has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Eriksson has hold of Clow's hands but Clow slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Clow works his way into side control.
Clow lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Eriksson down.
Clow trying to control the action but Eriksson is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Clow tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Clow has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Clow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Clow tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Eriksson was well out of range. Poor timing from Clow.

Clow forces Eriksson back against the cage and clinches.
Clow is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Eriksson is defending well.
Eriksson is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Eriksson prevents Clow from breaking the clinch.

Clow gets control of Eriksson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Clow will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Eriksson wants to pass the guard but Clow is keeping the position.
Clow has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Clow is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Eriksson rolls with it to try and escape but Clow cranks on the arm and Eriksson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kyle Clow!
