PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ulrich Scherer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bison Bowden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ulrich Scherer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bison Bowden!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scherer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bowden avoids it really well and circles away.
Scherer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bowden tries to avoid it but Scherer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bowden to the ground. Bowden escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ulrich Scherer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scherer misses with a head kick.
Bowden looks to land a combination but Scherer avoids it well.
Scherer walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bowden checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Scherer fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ulrich Scherer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bowden closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Scherer quickly recovers to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bowden lands with a punch from half guard.
Bowden has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bowden works his way into full mount!
Scherer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Bowden prevents Scherer from getting the reversal.

Bowden cracks Scherer with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Bowden can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Scherer is looking to escape.
Scherer is trying desperately to improve position.
Scherer wants to hold on but Bowden pushes him away.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Bowden lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Scherer hang on?
Scherer is trying desperately to improve position.
Bowden pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Scherer is in a horrible position here. Bowden smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bowden content just to control the position here.
Bowden avoids the attempt from Scherer to control.

Bowden takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Scherer just trying to survive but Bowden is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Bowden lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.

Bowden has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Scherer.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bowden has the hooks in. Scherer is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Bowden is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Oh Scherer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Bowden working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Scherer is doing well to defend. Bowden seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Scherer is forced to tap and this one is over!
