Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Jyllendael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Monte Melkonian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melkonian has chosen Artsakh Music as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Jyllendael! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Monte Melkonian! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A solid body kick from Jyllendael. Jyllendael feints and then cracks Melkonian's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Melkonian down. Monte Melkonian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jyllendael shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Melkonian as he avoids it easily. Melkonian fails with the takedown and Jyllendael holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Jyllendael prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jyllendael is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Melkonian pulls Jyllendael into guard.
Jyllendael stops Melkonian from standing up. Jyllendael tries to stand but Melkonian is controlling from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jyllendael is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Jyllendael trying to control but Melkonian is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jyllendael is stalling in the full guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jyllendael's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Jyllendael has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Melkonian wants to stand but Jyllendael is controlling the position. Jyllendael is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jyllendael tries to score a power double leg takedown but Melkonian sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jyllendael somewhat. Jyllendael shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Jyllendael. That's going to take a lot out of him. A left and a right from Jyllendael both land. Nice combination. Melkonian fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jyllendael sprawls well initially but Melkonian persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Jyllendael is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Jyllendael manages to escape and get back to his feet! Melkonian goes for a double leg but Jyllendael avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jyllendael continues to drive forward. Jyllendael blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Jyllendael drops down looking for an ankle pick but Melkonian pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jyllendael scores with a kick to the midsection.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Melkonian shoots for a takedown but Jyllendael saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jyllendael lands a big head kick that sends Melkonian tumbling to the mat! Jyllendael takes a step backwards and waves Melkonian back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Monte Melkonian has been cut. Jyllendael cracks Melkonian on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Melkonian falls backwards against the cage. Jyllendael follows up with more strikes that drop Melkonian to his knees. Jyllendael keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Melkonian! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Jyllendael! Jake Jyllendael decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
