Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodriguez Verde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Askr Volund (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodriguez Verde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Askr Volund!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volund throws a right and a left that both miss.
Volund slaps away a takedown attempt from Verde, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Verde bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Verde throws a strike aimed at the side of Volund's head but Volund avoids it well.
Volund takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Verde in side control lands a decent elbow.
Volund avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Verde.
Verde has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Verde throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Volund gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Verde seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Volund is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Verde pulls his head out easily.

Verde is keen to just control but Volund is a slippery customer.
Verde winds up and cracks Volund with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Verde pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Verde lands a heavy elbow.
Volund is in a horrible position here. Verde smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Verde looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Volund utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Volund working for a triangle but Verde defends it easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Verde cracks Volund with a solid left hand.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Verde accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Volund lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Volund is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Verde has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Volund doesn't defend quickly enough and Verde has managed to lock this one up! Can Volund escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Verde on a fantastic submission victory.
