The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karroki looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Alvarez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Karroki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alvarez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Alvarez tries to clinch up but Karroki circles away and keeps his distance.

Karroki looks to land a combination but Alvarez avoids it well.
Karroki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alvarez.
Karroki throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Alvarez counters with a one-two to the body.
Karroki misses with a series of wild punches.
Karroki throws a series of punches but Alvarez moves out of range.

Karroki drops Alvarez with a beautiful combination! Alvarez stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Karroki is looking for the KO!

Derryl Karroki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alvarez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Alvarez is still on wobbly legs! Can Karroki finish him?
Karroki throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Alvarez's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Karroki dives in looking to finish as Alvarez flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Karroki's strikes! Karroki is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Alvarez's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Alvarez was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
