The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown but Chan shows good takedown defense.
Sanchez throws a hook but Chan avoids it easily.

Chan moves into the clinch.

Sanchez jumps guard and drags Chan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Chan with a flurry of punches that miss.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sanchez is on top in guard.

Sanchez wants to pass the guard but Chan is keeping the position.
Chan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sanchez is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sanchez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Sanchez tries to free his leg and advance position but Chan is retaining full guard.
Sanchez forces his way into half guard.
Chan tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Chan is trying to stand up here but Sanchez is controlling him well.
Sanchez prevents Chan from improving his position.
Sanchez wants to pass to mount but Chan is defending the position.
Sanchez passes the guard and advances to mount!
Chan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Chan tries to get out of the position.
Chan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Sanchez working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Chan turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Sanchez off and cradles Chan's limp body as Sanchez celebrates with his corner.

After winning the bout, Dj Sanchez thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
