Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Herman Mudgett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Leandro Jones! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mudgett scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Jones misses with a few strikes there.
A slow jab from Jones misses its intended target. Jones connects with an inside leg kick. Mudgett thows a left - swing and a miss! Mudgett avoids the head kick by Jones.
Mudgett scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mudgett to score an easy takedown into full guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mudgett throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mudgett has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Mudgett has his foot on Jones's thigh. Mudgett drops an elbow to the side of Jones's head. Jones felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Mudgett throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Jones to regain full guard. Jones is looking to stand up but Mudgett isn't so interested in that idea. Mudgett throws an elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mudgett's guard. That was a close round but I would say that Herman Mudgett will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Mudgett misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Mudgett shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Mudgett throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely. No luck for Mudgett with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Herman Mudgett. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mudgett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Mudgett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones darts in and clinches Mudgett up against the cage. Jones is looking to control Mudgett's arms but Mudgett gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jones has his back to the cage. Jones jumps into guard, dragging Mudgett to the mat.

Mudgett prevents Jones from getting back to his feet. Mudgett throws an elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mudgett's guard. Nice move by Jones! Mudgett wants to control the position but Jones says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mudgett is looking for a sweep. Jones is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jones trying to mount his opponent but Mudgett defends it. Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Mudgett is trying to control but Jones passes into side control!

Mudgett postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Mudgett loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mudgett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones controls Mudgett momentarily but Mudgett frees himself. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Mudgett throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A combination from Mudgett does no damage. A big right from Jones misses. A combination from Mudgett does no damage. Jones misses with a two punch combination.
Mudgett throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Jones takes the fight into the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mudgett is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jones pulls guard successfully.

Leandro Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Leandro Jones seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Mudgett is working for takedown but Jones is calmly controlling the position for now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jones is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Jones softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Jones lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mudgett backwards. A nice left hand lands by Jones.

And that's the end of the fight! Leandro Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
