Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bowman Rook! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rocherre Velassco! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rook connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Velassco throws a low kick but it's checked well by Rook. Rook checks a leg kick. Rook pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Velassco tries to close the distance and clinch but Rook swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Velassco walks into a straight right hand from Rook. Rook looks to land a right hand but Velassco moved out of range. Rook tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Velassco was well out of range. Poor timing from Rook. Rook takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Velassco lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rook finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Rook lands a leg kick that knocks Velassco off balance momentarily. Rook throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Velassco uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rook.

Rook creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Rook lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Velassco backwards. Velassco misses with a shot to the kidneys.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rook tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Rook swings wildly with an uppercut but Velassco uses good head movement to avoid it. Velassco tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Velassco managing to block the knees to the body from Rook.
Still in the clinch, Rook scores with a nice short uppercut. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Bowman Rook will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Velassco clobbers Rook with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Velassco fakes the leg kick and cracks Rook in the body. Velassco slips a jab from Rook. Rook tries to close the distance and clinch up but Velassco swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nice body kick there by Velassco. Rook misses with a looping right. Rook ducks under a wild hook from Velassco. Velassco pushing out the jab but it's not landing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Velassco's jab looks to have found its range, popping Rook under the eye.
It looks like Bowman Rook has been cut. Bowman Rook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rook shoots in for a takedown but Velassco shows good takedown defense. Velassco blocks a head kick by Rook.
Rook connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Velassco momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velassco tries to keep at a distance but Rook has taken the fight into the clinch. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Velassco managing to block the knees to the body from Rook.

Rook misses with a short punch on the inside. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Velassco pushes Rook back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Rook stalling in the clinch but Velassco improves position. Velassco is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rook is defending well for now. Velassco digs a right hand underneath Rook's ribcage. Rook let out a lung full of air as it connected. Rook lands a damaging elbow. Velassco throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Rooks head. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Velassco lands with a left to the head.

Oh Rook is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Rook throws a head punch that misses. Rook seems to have got his legs back now.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Rook is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Velassco is defending well for now. Velassco jerks Rook's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Rook drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Velassco goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Velassco because Rook was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Rocherre Velassco! After winning the bout, Rocherre Velassco thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
