Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Burgess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Roveda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Burgess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pablo Roveda!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Topper Green and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Burgess.
Roveda shoots and misses

and Burgess decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Roveda's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burgess stops Roveda from standing up.
Roveda is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Roveda has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Burgess has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Burgess tries for a takedown. No joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roveda avoiding damage.
Roveda makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Roveda breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Roveda tries a head kick but it misses.
Burgess looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Roveda is fending him off so far but Burgess persists. Nope, Roveda circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Burgess. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Roveda forces Burgess back against the cage and clinches.
Burgess prevents Roveda from breaking the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Roveda's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Burgess breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Burgess gets a double leg takedown into Roveda's guard.
Burgess won't allow Roveda to get back to his feet.
Roveda utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Roveda has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Burgess off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roveda displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Burgess.
Roveda fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Roveda gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Burgess prevents Roveda from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roveda is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Burgess dives into side control.
Burgess prevents Roveda from escaping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roveda defending against the ground and pound.
Burgess wants to control but Roveda is keeping him busy.
Burgess prevents Roveda from escaping the position.
Roveda is looking to get back to his feet here but Burgess is keeping cool and he's managed to take Roveda's back.
Roveda trying to get back to his feet but Burgess is in full control for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Burgess lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Roveda hold on?!

Burgess has his opponent's back but Roveda is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Burgess.
Roveda throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Roveda tries to bum rush Burgess with a series of wild strikes but Burgess uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pablo Roveda will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Roveda shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Burgess pinned against the cage. Burgess gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Roveda misses with a body kick.
Burgess keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Roveda getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Burgess.
Roveda throws a head kick that misses.
Roveda leaves Burgess with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roveda feints with a jab and clips Burgess right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Burgess is sent crashing into the canvas and Roveda leaps in for the kill! Burgess tries to get to his feet but Roveda is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Burgess is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pablo Roveda!
